Metco 8224 is a chromium-free composite wire comprised of a martensitic matrix with hard, fine-scaled molybdenum boride and vanadium carbide. Apply Metco 8224 using GMAW or BMAW welding processes. Deposits result in rough, impact- and abrasion-resistant surfaces, with hardness generally ranging from 64 to 68 HRC. Deposits can have impact performance that is up to 20 times that of WC-Ni and more than 4 times better than chromium carbide overlays or nanostructured forming steels.
