Metco 1040A is a manganese steel compatible hardfacing overlay with an austenitic matrix and a high carbide fraction for wear and extreme abrasion resistance. In many mining processes where manganese steel is used, gouging or wear occurs before the steel has a chance to work harden. It is designed to be applied using laser cladding or Plasma Transferred Arc. Overlays of Metco 1040A work harden quickly in service to ≥ 63 HRC.
