PlasmaDur 51122 contains crushed monocrystalline tungsten carbide (MTC), blended with a nickel-based self-fluxing alloy designed to be applied by PTA. The fully carburized MTC has a stable single-phase microstructure. There is virtually no dilution of the MTC during processing with no matrix metal embrittlement. Deposits have a matrix hardness of approximately HRC 50 combined with the hardphase hardness of 1700 to 2000 HV0.1 provides very good abrasion resistance with fair impact resistance.
